About my work
I take a sustainable approach when it comes to my work process. I will extensively research the area's surroundings, history, and what my designs can offer to the building. You can see examples of this throughout my work. The ‘Cwtch Building’ I designed had a rich history and was once used as a coal mining building built in 1905. When given the brief, I made sure to link the design back to its original purpose. Creating a restaurant area that demonstrated the theme of coal. Using Coal-shaped designs and colour palettes of dark tones which represented elegance and luxury to the buildings inside.
Throughout my practice I have used organic shape design and sustainability at the forefront when it comes to designing, taking inspiration from Zaha Hadid, the City of Fashion and Design building in Paris and the Alpha House in Indonesia by Alexis Dornier to name a few. Also incorporating nature whether that’s by plantation within the interior design or by shape or colour palette. The mix of wood and green is very flattering to me and when combined can create a powerful experience for its user.
